Autism Support Assistant: Redhill

Salary: £13.08 – £14.50 an hour

Hours: 08:30-16:00

We are currently recruiting for a learning support assistant to join a school in the Redhill area. The school is specifically for pupils with communication difficulties typically associated with Autism. Some of the pupils will have experienced great challenges in the mainstream environment and therefore not having the best start to school life. The ideal candidate will be passionate about supporting each child to overcome their barriers to learning and social development. You will need to have a positive and resilient approach when managing behaviour and have the ability to build trusted relationships with the pupils so that they feel safe and secure within school.


You will be joining a supportive and experienced staff team that not only believes in pupil progress but they also want to invest in their staff and like to offer opportunities for career progression. Each staff is expected to attend whole school professional sessions at least once a week.


Your roles and responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting pupils achieve learning outcomes in lessons across all areas of the curriculum.
  • Having resilience and patience with working with students who exhibit challenging behaviour and be willing to be involved with any physical intervention; full training on this will be provided and you will be supported by experienced staff before this.
  • Commitment to ongoing personal development.
  • Support the class team in all areas of day-to-day life in the running of the classroom.
