We are currently recruiting an SEN learning support assistant to work in partnership with class teachers to support the learning of pupils with social, emotional, and mental health needs.  The school aim to change the negative attitudes displayed by the pupils resulting them reaching their full potential. The class sizes are small with 6 pupils per class with a high ratio of adult support.

The right candidate must have a positive, proactive and resilient attitude as behaviour can be very challenging at times due to the type of special needs the boys have. Staff are focussing on teaching the students how to regulate their emotions when things don’t go as expected. You should be able to build a trusted bond with the pupils so that you provide a safe and secure learning environment where the relationship is in focus.

Your roles and responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting pupils achieve learning outcomes in lessons across all areas of the curriculum.
  • Commitment to ongoing personal development.
  • Support the class team in all areas of day-to-day life in the running of the classroom.
  • To establish strong and trusted relationships with all pupils in your class so they feel safe and want to come to school everyday.
  • Having a positive approach to support behaviour and be willing to be involved with any physical intervention; full training on this will be provided and you will be supported by experienced staff before this.
