Higher-Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) – Supporting SEMH Students
Location: Chichester
Salary: £95
Contract Type: Part Time 19.5 hours per week, 3 days per week.
Start Date: Immediate start until July 2025 at minimum

Masterclass are working with a dedicated and supportive Primary setting that prides itself on supporting their students to achieve their full potential. They specialise in Social, Emotional and Mental Health and tailor their educational approach to suit the individual needs of their students.

The Role

We are seeking a compassionate and proactive Higher-Level Teaching Assistant to join the team. You will play a key role in supporting students with SEMH needs, ensuring they feel valued and motivated to succeed.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver engaging learning activities in line with the teacher’s planning and individual student needs.
  • Provide one-to-one or small group support to students, promoting their confidence and engagement.
  • Support the development of social skills, emotional resilience, and positive behaviour.
  • Monitor and assess student progress, providing feedback to teachers and parents/carers.
  • Contribute to the development of an inclusive, safe, and positive learning environment.

About You

The ideal candidate will:

  • Hold a relevant HLTA qualification (or equivalent) or have extensive experience working with SEMH students.
  • Demonstrate excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Be patient, empathetic, and adaptable in challenging situations.
  • Be committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.

Must have:

  • Ability to work well independently and as a team
  • Has a passion to support and empower children and young people
  • A DBS on the Updates Service, or be willing to obtain one
  • Commitment to safeguarding students and young people
  • Holds GCSE’S in Maths & English grade A*-C 4-9 or equivalent
  • Resilience to deal with challenging situations
