Higher-Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) – Food Technology

Location: Worthing
Salary: £100 per day
Hours: Monday – Friday 37 hours
Start Date: Immediate

We are working with a SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) Secondary school who are seeking an enthusiastic Higher-Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA). You will support the delivery of Food Technology lessons and contribute to the smooth running of the department. Working closely with teachers, you will help students develop their culinary skills, confidence, and creativity.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in planning and delivering engaging Food Technology lessons, including practical and theoretical components.
  • Lead small group or one-to-one activities to support student learning.
  • Prepare and organise resources, ingredients, and equipment for lessons.
  • Ensure health and safety standards are met, particularly during practical sessions.
  • Monitor and assess student progress, providing feedback to teachers.
  • Support students with varying abilities, including those with additional learning needs.
  • Promote a positive and inclusive learning environment that promotes creativity and teamwork.

About You

The ideal candidate will:

  • Hold a relevant HLTA qualification or equivalent, with experience in a similar role.
  • Have a good understanding of Food Technology and a passion for inspiring students.
  • Demonstrate excellent communication and organisational skills.
  • Be confident in supporting practical cooking and theoretical lessons.
  • Be knowledgeable about food hygiene and safety regulations.
  • Be patient, adaptable, and committed to fostering student success.
