Job Description: As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with students , providing tailored support to help them overcome barriers to learning and participate fully in school life. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Assisting the class teacher in planning and delivering engaging and differentiated lessons to meet the individual needs of students with SEN.
  • Providing one-to-one support and small group interventions to reinforce learning and promote skill development in areas such as literacy, numeracy, communication, and social skills.
  • Supporting students with sensory or physical impairments to access learning resources and participate in classroom activities.
  • Collaborating with the SENCO (Special Educational Needs Coordinator) and other professionals to implement individual education plans (IEPs) and monitor progress.
  • Promoting inclusion and positive behaviour management strategies within the classroom and across the school community.
  • Building strong relationships with students, parents, and colleagues to create a supportive network around each child.


  • Previous experience working with children or young people with SEN, either in an educational setting or a similar environment.
  • A genuine passion for supporting the learning and development of students with diverse needs.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport and establish positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.
  • Patience, empathy, and resilience to respond effectively to the challenges and rewards of working with SEN students.
  • Relevant qualifications or training in education, childcare, or special educational needs (desirable but not essential).
  • A DBS on the Update Service, or be willing to obtain one
  • Ability to work well independently and as a team


  • Monday – Friday (Full and Part Time)
  • Must be available between 8.30 and 3.30
  • Term Time only
