Job Description: As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with students , providing tailored support to help them overcome barriers to learning and participate fully in school life. Your responsibilities will include:
- Assisting the class teacher in planning and delivering engaging and differentiated lessons to meet the individual needs of students with SEN.
- Providing one-to-one support and small group interventions to reinforce learning and promote skill development in areas such as literacy, numeracy, communication, and social skills.
- Supporting students with sensory or physical impairments to access learning resources and participate in classroom activities.
- Collaborating with the SENCO (Special Educational Needs Coordinator) and other professionals to implement individual education plans (IEPs) and monitor progress.
- Promoting inclusion and positive behaviour management strategies within the classroom and across the school community.
- Building strong relationships with students, parents, and colleagues to create a supportive network around each child.
Requirements:
- Previous experience working with children or young people with SEN, either in an educational setting or a similar environment.
- A genuine passion for supporting the learning and development of students with diverse needs.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport and establish positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.
- Patience, empathy, and resilience to respond effectively to the challenges and rewards of working with SEN students.
- Relevant qualifications or training in education, childcare, or special educational needs (desirable but not essential).
- A DBS on the Update Service, or be willing to obtain one
- Ability to work well independently and as a team
Availability:
- Monday – Friday (Full and Part Time)
- Must be available between 8.30 and 3.30
- Term Time only
