Position: Pastoral & Welfare Officer
Location: Horsham, West Sussex
Salary: £28,000 – £30,000
Contract Type: Full-time (term time only)

We are seeking a dedicated Pastoral & Welfare Officer to join one of our outstanding secondary schools in Horsham. This rewarding role will enable you to play a key part in supporting the emotional, social, and academic needs of students.

 

About the Role

As a Pastoral & Welfare Officer, you will:

  • Be a trusted point of contact for students requiring emotional or pastoral support.
  • Support students’ attendance, behaviour, and overall well-being through targeted interventions.
  • Work closely with teachers, parents, and external agencies to ensure holistic support for each student.
  • Contribute to safeguarding procedures and maintain accurate records in line with school policies.
  • Foster a positive, inclusive school culture where all students can thrive.

 

About You

To excel in this role, you will:

  • Have experience working with young people in a pastoral, welfare, or similar capacity.
  • Demonstrate excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
  • Be empathetic, approachable, and committed to supporting students’ welfare.
  • Have knowledge of safeguarding practices and procedures.
  • Ideally hold a relevant qualification in social care, youth work, or education (desirable but not essential).
