Masterclass Education are working with an amazing all-through SEN school with residential who are currently recruiting for support workers to work across both the school and residential. They have state of the art facilities where they have the ability to support all the needs of the students. The school specialise in Cerebral Palsy as well as supporting students with other additional needs such as visual and hearing impairments etc…

Masterclass Education provide FREE! CPD recognised training courses to all our candidates such as Safeguarding level 1, Prevent, FGM as well as SEN courses: Autism Awareness, ADHD Awareness, Trauma and many more.

They are currently seeking compassionate and dedicated Residential Support Workers to join their team. As well as taking an active role during the school day, you would be supporting the students in the afternoon/early evening routine. You would be working with a wide age range of students and the would be an element of personal care.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-to-one support and assistance to students with special educational needs, both within the school and the residential home, to help them access the curriculum and participate in learning activities.
  • Collaborate closely with teachers and other educational professionals to implement individualized education plans (IEPs) and support strategies tailored to the specific needs of each student.
  • Assist students with personal care tasks, mobility, communication, and sensory integration, as required, while promoting independence, dignity, and self-esteem.
  • Foster positive relationships with students, promoting inclusion, acceptance, and a sense of belonging within the school community.
  • Monitor students’ progress and behaviour, and communicate regularly with teachers, parents, and other stakeholders to provide updates and feedback on student performance and well-being.
  • Support students during transitions between activities and environments, providing reassurance, guidance, and encouragement as needed.
  • Implement behaviour management strategies and de-escalation techniques to support students with challenging behaviour and promote a safe and supportive learning environment.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation of support provided, including progress notes, incident reports, and communication logs.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Previous experience working with individuals with special educational needs is desirable but not essential. Full training will be provided.
  • Understanding of different types of special educational needs, including autism, ADHD, learning disabilities, and physical disabilities, again, desirable but not essential as full training is provided.
  • Compassionate and patient nature, with a genuine desire to make a positive difference in the lives of individuals with SEN.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport and establish trust with students, parents, and colleagues.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team, supporting the implementation of individualized support plans and educational strategies.
  • Flexible, adaptable, and resilient, with the ability to remain calm and composed in challenging situations.
