About the Role
Masterclass Education is recruiting a passionate and experienced Food Technology Teacher to join the team at a vibrant secondary school in the Brighton and Hove area. The school thrives on creativity, innovation, and a dynamic approach to education, where students are inspired to achieve their full potential. This is an exciting opportunity to inspire and educate students in the art and science of food preparation, nutrition, and culinary skills, fostering a love for cooking and healthy eating habits. As a HOD you will also lead the department in enriching the curriculum and providing guidance to colleagues.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging and creative Food Technology lessons to secondary school students
- Develop students’ practical cooking skills, knowledge of nutrition, and understanding of food safety and hygiene
- Create a dynamic and inclusive learning environment that supports all students to succeed
- Monitor and assess students’ progress, providing constructive feedback and support to help them improve
- Collaborate with colleagues to enrich the curriculum and participate in school activities and events
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations in the kitchen and classrooms
- Maintain equipment and resources, ensuring a safe and productive teaching environment
Key Requirements:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching qualification
- Experience teaching Food Technology at secondary level
- Strong subject knowledge and a passion for food education
- Excellent classroom management and communication skills
- A commitment to promoting healthy eating and sustainability
- Ability to inspire and motivate students of varying abilities
- Commitment to safeguarding and child protection
- Previous experience in a leadership capacity
