About the Role

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated SEN Post-16 Teacher to join a dynamic team. This role involves working with young people aged 16-19 with Special Educational Needs (SEN), supporting their educational, social, and emotional development. You will play a crucial role in helping students transition into adulthood, preparing them for further education, employment, or independent living.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, deliver, and assess engaging lessons tailored to meet the individual needs of students with a range of SEN, including cerebral palsy, autism, ADHD, and other learning disabilities.
  • Support students’ personal development, helping them to build essential life skills, confidence, and independence.
  • Develop and maintain individual learning plans (ILPs) and monitor progress.
  • Work collaboratively with support staff, therapists, and external professionals to ensure the best outcomes for students.
  • Promote a positive learning environment that fosters respect, inclusion, and emotional well-being.
  • Liaise with parents/carers and keep them informed about their child’s progress.
  • Ensure compliance with the school’s safeguarding and health & safety policies.

Requirements

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) – SEN qualifications desirable.
  • Proven experience working with post-16 students with SEN in an educational setting.
  • Strong understanding of SEN teaching strategies, including differentiated instruction and behaviour management techniques.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team.
  • A patient, compassionate, and adaptable approach to teaching and learning.
