About the Role:
We are seeking compassionate and motivated SEN Support Worker to join one of our fabulous SEN schools in the Worthing area, supporting students with Special Educational Needs (SEN). As an SEN Support Worker, you will play a vital role in providing tailored support to students, helping them overcome barriers to learning and achieve their full potential. This is an ideal opportunity for someone with experience in SEN or care who is looking to make a positive impact in a school setting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide 1:1 or small group support to students with a range of needs, including autism, ADHD, learning disabilities, and social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) challenges.
- Assist the class teacher in implementing individual education plans (IEPs) and adapting classroom activities to meet the needs of SEN students.
- Help create a positive, inclusive, and safe learning environment for all pupils.
- Support students with personal care and mobility needs where applicable.
- Encourage and support positive interactions between students and help build social and communication skills.
- Monitor and report on students’ progress, ensuring that individual goals and targets are being met.
- Foster strong relationships with students, staff, and parents/carers to promote collaborative learning and well-being.
Requirements:
- Experience working with children or young people with SEN, ideally in an educational or care setting.
- Strong understanding of various SEN conditions and appropriate support strategies.
- Patience, empathy, and resilience to handle challenging situations.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Strong communication skills and a positive attitude.
- Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one).
