Masterclass are working with a very welcoming SEN school, who require a teacher to join their vibrant team at their 6th form site.

You would play a vital role in promoting inclusive education and ensuring that all students have equitable access to learning opportunities and support services. Your dedication and expertise contribute to the academic success, social-emotional well-being, and overall development of students with special educational needs.

 

Responsibilities

  1. Assessment and Planning:
    • Conducting assessments to identify students’ individual learning needs, strengths, and challenges.
    • Developing Individual Education Plans (IEPs)
  2. Instruction and Differentiation:
    • Delivering specialized instruction tailored to meet the diverse needs of students with disabilities.
    • Adapting teaching methods, materials, and resources to accommodate different learning styles and abilities.
  3. Collaboration and Consultation:
    • Collaborating with other educators, support staff, and professionals (e.g., speech therapists, occupational therapists) to develop comprehensive support plans for students with SEN.
  4. Behaviour Management and Social Skills Development:
    • Implementing behaviour management strategies and techniques to support students with emotional or behavioural difficulties.
    • Teaching and reinforcing social skills, communication skills, and self-regulation strategies to help students build positive relationships and succeed in social settings.
  5. Progress Monitoring and Evaluation:
    • Regularly assessing students’ progress towards their IEP goals and making adjustments to support their ongoing development.
  6. Professional Development:
    • Engaging in ongoing professional development and training to stay informed about best practices, research-based interventions, and legal requirements related to special education.

The ideal candidate:

  • Hold QTS
  • Have previous experience with SEN (personal, volunteer, work experience)
  • Are drivers however, there is public transport.
  • Ability to work well independently and as a team.

Must have:

  • Has a passion to support and empower children and young people
  • A DBS on the Updates Service or be willing to obtain one.
  • Commitment to safeguarding students and young people.
