Rate of Pay: £81.75 per day
Hours: 8.30-3.30

We are currently seeking a compassionate and dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join a fantastic team and help make a positive impact on the lives of students with special educational needs.

Job Overview

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will be responsible for supporting students with special educational needs, working closely with class teachers and the SENCO to deliver tailored educational programs. You will help students access the curriculum, promote independence, and ensure they have a positive and enriching school experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support to students with a range of SEN, including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), ADHD, learning disabilities, and emotional and behavioural difficulties.
  • Assist the class teacher in planning and delivering adapted lessons and learning activities that meet the individual needs of students.
  • Support students in developing social skills, communication, and independence, both inside and outside the classroom.
  • Help with classroom management and maintaining a safe and inclusive environment for all students.
  • Monitor and report on student progress, contributing to the development and review of Individual Education Plans (IEPs).
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCO, and other professionals to implement strategies that support students’ learning and well-being.
  • Provide support for students’ personal care needs (if applicable) and encourage self-care and independence.

Requirements

  • Experience working with children with SEN, preferably in an educational setting.
  • Patience, empathy, and a strong passion for working with children with additional needs.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and use initiative.
  • A flexible and positive approach to meeting the diverse needs of students.

Desirable Skills

  • Experience with SEN-specific interventions and strategies, such as PECS, Makaton, or sensory support techniques.
  • Knowledge of behaviour management techniques and emotional regulation strategies.
  • A relevant qualification in child development, SEN, or education (e.g., Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant, CACHE, or equivalent).
