Masterclass Education work with a dedicated and passionate Secondary in the Hackney area , who are currently needing an SEND Teaching Assistant to join their wonderful team, to provide the very best support to all the children and to encourage them to thrive in their development. You may need to provide personal and medical care, for which training is provided.
The school boast state of the art equipment and facilities to enable all the children to progress in both their personal and educational development. They have access to amazing facilities such as a hydrotherapy pool, sensory rooms, soft play as well as a well-equipped and colourful playground for all the children to enjoy and help self-regulate.
Job Description:
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEND Teaching Assistant to join their team. The successful candidate will work closely with teachers and other staff to support students with SEND, helping them to access the curriculum and participate fully in school activities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support students with SEND in the classroom, helping them to engage with lessons and complete tasks.
- Assist in the development and implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs).
- Provide one-on-one or small group support as needed.
- Monitor and report on student progress, providing feedback to teachers and parents.
- Help to create a positive and inclusive learning environment.
- Assist with classroom preparation and the development of learning materials.
- Support students with personal care needs, where necessary.
- Foster positive relationships with students, encouraging their social and emotional development.
- Work collaboratively with teachers, parents, and external professionals to support student learning and well-being.
Requirements:
- Experience working with children, preferably in an educational setting.
- Understanding of the needs of students with SEND.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for supporting children’s development.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Basic knowledge of first aid and safeguarding procedures.
Desirable:
- Additional qualifications or training in special educational needs.
- Experience with specific SEND conditions such as autism, ADHD, or dyslexia.
- Familiarity with assistive technologies and tools.
