Senior ICT Technician

Location: Burgess Hill (Base) Remote across West Sussex

Salary: £27,000 – £29,500

Contract Type: Full-time, (All year round)

They are looking for an experienced and dedicated Senior ICT Technician to join their team, ensuring the smooth operation and development of their ICT infrastructure and supporting both staff and students in their use of technology.

As the Senior ICT Technician, you will be responsible for maintaining and improving the school’s ICT systems, providing technical support, and ensuring that all technology-related issues are resolved efficiently. You will play a critical role in supporting the strategic development of ICT within the school and also remotely supporting staff and pupils within their homes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and maintain the school’s ICT infrastructure, including servers, networks, hardware, and software.
  • Provide first-line and second-line technical support to staff and students, resolving ICT issues promptly and effectively.
  • Install, configure, and update ICT equipment and software, ensuring all systems are up-to-date and secure.
  • Monitor and maintain the network’s performance, identifying and addressing any potential issues or areas for improvement.
  • Develop and implement ICT policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with relevant data protection and safeguarding regulations.
  • Manage the ICT budget in collaboration with senior leadership, ensuring cost-effective procurement and maintenance of technology resources.
  • Train and support staff in the effective use of ICT equipment and software, delivering workshops or one-to-one sessions as needed.
  • Maintain accurate records of ICT equipment, software licenses, and user accounts.
  • Lead and mentor junior ICT staff, providing guidance and support in their professional development.
  • Work closely with the school’s senior leadership team to develop and implement an ICT strategy that supports the school’s educational goals.

Essential:

  • Proven experience as an ICT Technician, or in a similar role, ideally within an educational setting.
  • Strong knowledge of ICT systems, including Windows and Mac OS, networking, hardware, software, and cloud-based technologies.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with a methodical approach to troubleshooting and resolving ICT issues.
  • Strong organisational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities effectively.
  • Knowledge of data protection laws (e.g., GDPR) and experience ensuring ICT systems comply with these regulations.
  • Ability to manage and maintain a variety of hardware, including PCs, laptops, interactive whiteboards, and printers.

  • Ability to work well independently and as a team
  • Has a passion to support and empower children and young people
  • A DBS on the Updates Service, or be willing to obtain one
  • Commitment to safeguarding students and young people
  • Holds GCSE’S in Maths & English grade A*-C 4-9 or equivalent
  • Resilience to deal with challenging situations
