Job Overview:

We are seeking a compassionate and motivated Support Assistant to join their supportive team. The successful candidate will work closely with teachers and other staff to support students with varying learning needs, ensuring they have the resources and assistance necessary to succeed academically and socially. You will also be supporting the students on the residential side of the institution also, providing them assistance, when required, with their evening routines.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-on-one and small group support to students with learning difficulties or disabilities.
  • Assist teachers in creating and implementing individualized education plans (IEPs).
  • Support classroom management and assist with lesson delivery.
  • Help students develop social skills and manage their behaviour.
  • Monitor and record student progress, providing feedback to teachers and parents.
  • Prepare and adapt learning materials to meet the needs of individual students.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment.
  • Participate in meetings and training sessions as required.
  • Support in the residential side of the school

Essential Requirements:

  • Previous experience working with children or young people.
  • Understanding of various learning difficulties and disabilities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for helping students succeed.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.

Desirable Attributes:

  • Relevant qualifications or certifications in education or special needs support.
  • Experience with specific educational interventions or support strategies.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding and child protection policies.
  • Familiarity with assistive technologies and adaptive learning tools.
  • Commitment to continuous professional development.
