Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of students with diverse learning needs? We are seeking a dedicated Support Assistant to join our education team and provide tailored support to students who require additional assistance to succeed academically and thrive in the classroom.

As a Support Assistant in Education, you will work closely with classroom teachers and SENCO (Special Educational Needs Coordinator) to implement individualised support plans for students with diverse learning needs, including those with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND). Your role will involve providing one-to-one or small group support, adapting learning materials, and implementing strategies to facilitate access to the curriculum and promote independent learning.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support students with diverse learning needs in accessing the curriculum and achieving their learning goals.
- Provide individualised support and assistance during lessons, ensuring that students are fully engaged and able to participate effectively.
- Adapt learning materials and resources to meet the specific needs of students, including those with sensory, physical, or communication difficulties.
- Assist with the implementation of behaviour management strategies and interventions to promote positive behaviour and emotional well-being.
- Collaborate with classroom teachers, SENCO, and other professionals to review progress, set targets, and ensure that support plans are effectively implemented.
- Maintain accurate records of student progress, observations, and interventions, and contribute to the development of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and other documentation as required.
Requirements:
- Experience working with students with diverse learning needs, preferably within an educational setting.
- Understanding of different learning styles and strategies to support students with SEND.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills.
- Patience, empathy, and a positive attitude towards supporting students with diverse needs.
- Relevant qualifications or training in education, SEN, or related fields desirable but not essential.
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
