Teaching Assistant – SEMH
Location: Littlehampton, West Sussex
Salary: £100–£105 per day (depending on experience)
Contract: Full-time, Term Time Only
Start Date: September 2026
Masterclass Education is recruiting on behalf of a welcoming and supportive school in Littlehampton for a dedicated SEMH Teaching Assistant to join their team from September. The school caters for 8-16 years and is an all boys school.
This rewarding role involves supporting students with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, helping them to engage positively with learning, develop confidence and achieve their individual potential. You will work closely with teachers, pastoral staff and the SEN team to provide tailored support both in and out of the classroom.

The Role
- Provide one-to-one and small group support for students with SEMH needs.
- Help pupils access learning across a range of subjects.
- Build positive, trusting relationships that promote confidence and emotional wellbeing.
- Support students with behaviour regulation using positive behaviour management strategies.
- Encourage engagement, independence and resilience throughout the school day.
- Work closely with teachers, the SENCO and pastoral team to implement individual support plans.
- Promote a safe, inclusive and supportive learning environment.
The Ideal Candidate
- Has experience working with children or young people with SEMH, behavioural needs or additional learning needs.
- Is calm, patient and resilient, with a positive and nurturing approach.
- Can build strong relationships with students who may struggle to engage with education.
- Has excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Is committed to safeguarding and supporting young people’s wellbeing.
- Experience in education, youth work, care, coaching or mentoring is desirable but not essential.
