Immediate start with potential to continue until the end of the academic year, this full‑time position operates Monday to Friday, 08:00–16:00, at a secondary school located in Newham. You’ll be joining a supportive team committed to inclusion, dignity, and high‑quality care.
What This Role Involves
This is a hands‑on, student‑focused role where your presence genuinely matters. You will be providing essential personal care and mobility support to ensure the student can participate safely and comfortably throughout the school day. Your responsibilities will include:
- Confident and safe use of a hoist for transfers
- Supporting with changing and personal hygiene routines
- Assisting with wheelchair mobility around the school site
- Offering calm, consistent support during lessons and transitions
- Working collaboratively with teaching staff, pastoral teams, and SEN specialists
- Promoting independence, dignity, and emotional wellbeing wherever possible
What We’re Looking For
To be considered for this role — and to receive the stated rate of pay — applicants must meet the following minimum requirements:
- Experience providing personal care in a school, care, or health‑support setting
- Practical experience or training in hoist operation
- Experience supporting wheelchair users
- An enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to obtain one)
- A patient, empathetic, and professional approach when working with young people
- The ability to remain calm, reliable, and supportive throughout the school day
