Masterclass Education is excited to be working with a fantastic Infant & Junior School in the heart of Southsea to recruit a dedicated Teaching Assistant to join their welcoming team this September.

The Role

As a Teaching Assistant, you’ll play an important role in supporting pupils throughout the school day, working alongside class teachers to create a positive and engaging learning environment.

You’ll support children both in the classroom and through small group or one-to-one interventions, helping to build confidence, encourage independence and ensure every child has the opportunity to thrive.

While this isn’t an SEN school, experience supporting children with additional needs such as Autism, ADHD, speech and language needs or social and emotional development would be a real advantage, as some pupils benefit from additional classroom support.

Your Responsibilities

• Support the class teacher with engaging learning activities.
• Work with individual pupils and small groups to reinforce learning.
• Encourage confidence, independence and positive behaviour.
• Help create an inclusive classroom where every child feels supported.
• Build positive relationships with pupils, parents and colleagues.
• Assist with preparing classroom resources and maintaining an engaging learning environment.
• Support children with additional needs where required.

We’re Looking For Someone Who

• Has previous experience working with primary-aged children, either in a school or similar setting.
• Is enthusiastic, patient and passionate about helping children succeed.
• Can build positive relationships and communicate effectively with pupils and staff.
• Works well as part of a team while also using their own initiative.
• Has a positive attitude and enjoys supporting children to reach their full potential.
• Experience supporting children with SEND is desirable but not essential.
