KS1/EYFS SEN Teacher.

Job Description

Masterclass Education are currently recruiting for an SEN Teacher for a specialist provision in the Barnsley area!

Are you an experienced teacher looking for a new challenge, or a teacher who would like to make a genuine difference to the lives of children and young people?

We are looking for passionate and resilient Teachers to work within a primary SEN provision supporting pupils in a mixed aged class with a range of needs, with a particular focus on ASD.

SEN teaching is about much more than delivering lessons. It is about building relationships, providing consistency and helping young people to re-engage with education and believe in their own potential.

We welcome teachers with a range of experience

You may already have experience working within:

  • Special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) settings
  • Primary or Early Years classes
  • Residential or youth settings.
  • Other environments supporting vulnerable children and young people.

The role

As an SEN Teacher, you will:

  • Deliver engaging and appropriately differentiated lessons.
  • Build positive, trusting relationships with pupils.
  • Create a calm, structured and supportive learning environment.
  • Support pupils with their emotional and behavioural needs.
  • Encourage pupils to develop confidence, independence and positive attitudes towards learning.
  • Work closely with colleagues and other professionals to support individual pupils.
  • Adapt your approach to meet the needs of different learners.

What we’re looking for

We are looking for teachers who are:

  • Patient, calm and resilient.
  • Confident managing challenging behaviour.
  • Able to build strong professional relationships with young people.
  • Flexible and adaptable in their approach.
  • Passionate about supporting pupils who may have struggled within traditional education.
  • Committed to creating positive outcomes for every pupil.
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an appropriate teaching qualification.

Why work in SEN?

Working in any specialist setting can be challenging, but it can also be one of the most rewarding areas of education. Small steps can represent huge achievements, and the relationships you build with pupils can have a lasting impact.

If you are a teacher who wants to do more than simply deliver a lesson — if you want to help young people reconnect with education and see what they are capable of — we want to hear from you.
