Are you passionate about helping children learn, grow and reach their full potential? Do you enjoy working with young people and providing the encouragement and support they need to succeed?
We are looking for caring, enthusiastic and reliable Teaching and Learning Support Assistants to work in schools across Chichester and the surrounding areas.
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who wants to play a meaningful role in children’s education, helping pupils build confidence, develop new skills and enjoy a positive experience at school.
Whether you already have classroom experience or are looking to develop your career in education, we would love to hear from you. Most importantly, we’re looking for people who are patient, approachable and genuinely passionate about supporting children’s learning and wellbeing.
Earn up to £100 per day, depending on experience and the requirements of the placement, with flexible supply opportunities to suit your availability.
The Role
As a Teaching / Learning Support Assistant, you will work alongside teachers and other school staff to help create a positive, inclusive and engaging learning environment. You will support pupils with their classroom activities, encourage participation and help them develop the confidence and independence they need to thrive.
Depending on the school and placement, you may also support pupils with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND), including autism, ADHD, speech and language difficulties, learning needs and social, emotional and mental health challenges.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Supporting teachers with classroom activities and the delivery of engaging lessons.
- Providing one-to-one and small-group support to help pupils access learning.
- Encouraging pupils to participate, build confidence and develop independence.
- Helping prepare classroom resources and learning materials.
- Supporting pupils with literacy, numeracy and other core learning activities.
- Promoting positive behaviour and encouraging respectful relationships.
- Providing additional support to pupils who may need help with their learning or development.
- Working closely with teachers and other staff to meet pupils’ individual needs.
- Helping maintain a safe, welcoming and inclusive classroom environment.
- Following school policies and safeguarding procedures to ensure pupils’ wellbeing.
The Ideal Candidate
We are looking for people who are enthusiastic about education and want to make a positive difference to children’s lives.
You will ideally be:
- Patient, caring and approachable.
- Reliable, punctual and professional.
- Confident communicating with children and working as part of a team.
- Flexible and comfortable adapting to different classroom environments.
- Proactive and willing to support teachers wherever needed.
- Passionate about helping pupils develop academically, socially and emotionally.
- Committed to safeguarding, inclusion and equal opportunities.
Previous experience working in a school, nursery, childcare setting or similar environment is beneficial but not always essential. Experience supporting pupils with SEND is also advantageous, as are relevant qualifications or training in education, childcare or learning support.
Above all, we value a positive attitude, a willingness to learn and a genuine desire to help every child feel supported and included.
