Job Overview:

They are seeking a passionate and dedicated Learning Support Assistant to join their dynamic team. As an LSA, you will work closely with students, teachers, and the Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCO) to ensure that students with additional learning needs receive tailored support to fully engage in the curriculum and achieve their potential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-on-one or small group support: Assist students with learning difficulties, disabilities, or other specific educational needs in both academic and social settings.
  • Adapt learning materials: Modify classroom resources to meet the individual needs of students, ensuring they can access the curriculum.
  • Assist with classroom management: Work alongside the classroom teacher to promote a positive learning environment.
  • Monitor student progress: Keep accurate records and track the progress of students receiving additional support.
  • Encourage independence: Foster self-confidence and independence in students, helping them develop essential life skills.
  • Support inclusion: Help to promote social inclusion and encourage students to interact with their peers.
  • Work collaboratively: Liaise with teachers, SENCOs, parents, and external agencies to ensure a holistic approach to supporting the student’s needs.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Essential:
    • A DBS on the update service or are willing to obtain one.
    • A genuine passion for helping students with additional needs.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Ability to work as part of a team and independently.
  • Desirable:
    • Level 2 or 3 qualification in Supporting Teaching and Learning, Childcare, or equivalent.
    • Previous experience working with children with Special Educational Needs (SEN).
    • Knowledge of safeguarding policies and procedures.
