We are currently recruiting for a Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to join a friendly and welcoming mainstream primary school in Littlehampton. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Teaching Assistant or LSA, or someone with relevant transferable experience, who is looking to develop their career within education.
As a Learning Support Assistant, you will work closely with the class teacher and wider school team to support pupils with their learning, development and wellbeing. You will help create a positive and inclusive classroom environment where children feel supported, encouraged and confident to achieve their potential.
Key responsibilities:
- Supporting pupils with their day-to-day learning and classroom activities
- Providing one-to-one and small-group support where required
- Helping children develop confidence, independence and positive learning behaviours
- Supporting pupils who may require additional help with their learning or development
- Encouraging pupils to engage with lessons and activities
- Working closely with the class teacher to support the delivery of learning
- Building positive and trusting relationships with pupils
- Supporting children during break and lunchtime where required
- Helping maintain a safe, positive and inclusive learning environment
- Following individual support plans and school policies
The ideal candidate:
We are looking for someone who is caring, patient, reliable and enthusiastic about working with children.
You may already have experience as a:
- Learning Support Assistant
- Teaching Assistant
- SEN Teaching Assistant
- Classroom Assistant
- Nursery Practitioner
- Childcare Worker
- Support Worker
- Youth Worker
Previous experience within a school or working with children is desirable, but transferable experience and the right attitude are also valued.
You will need to be confident communicating with children and adults, able to work as part of a team and willing to get involved in all aspects of school life.
