Learning Support Assistant – SEMH Secondary School (All Boys)
Location: Chichester, West Sussex
Role Type: Monday-Friday | 8:15-15:30
Pay: £80 – £93 per day (depending on experience)

We are working with a specialist all-boys SEMH secondary school seeking a confident, resilient and compassionate Learning Support Assistant to join their dedicated team.

About the School & Pupils:
The school supports boys aged 11–16 with SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) needs, many of whom have experienced barriers to mainstream education. Pupils benefit from structured routines, consistent relationships and a strong pastoral approach. Staff work collaboratively to provide tailored support, helping students re-engage with learning and develop positive behaviours.
The Role:
As a Learning Support Assistant, you will:
- Provide 1:1 and small-group support to students with SEMH and additional needs
- Support behaviour regulation, emotional wellbeing and engagement in learning
- Implement de-escalation strategies and positive behaviour approaches
- Work closely with teachers, pastoral staff and external professionals
- Build strong, trusting relationships with students
- Contribute to a safe, structured and supportive learning environment
The Ideal Candidate:
We are looking for someone who:
- Has experience working with young people with SEMH, SEND, or challenging behaviour (desirable but not essential)
- Is calm, patient, resilient and emotionally intelligent
- Has strong communication and relationship-building skills
- Is committed to safeguarding and inclusive education
- Has a genuine passion for supporting vulnerable learners
