Learning Support Assistant
Location: Portsmouth
Hours: Monday-Friday | 08:30-15:30 | Term Time Only
Pay: £100 per day

We are looking for a caring, patient and enthusiastic Learning Support Assistant to join a welcoming school in Portsmouth.
This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys working closely with children and wants to play an important role in helping pupils feel confident, supported and included in school. You will work alongside teachers and the wider support team, providing additional help to pupils who may need support with their learning, communication, behaviour or emotional development.
The school places a strong focus on creating a positive and supportive environment where pupils feel safe, understood and encouraged to achieve their potential. You will have the opportunity to build positive relationships with pupils and see the impact your support can have throughout the school day.
Key Responsibilities
- Support pupils on a one-to-one and small-group basis.
- Help pupils access lessons, activities and the wider curriculum.
- Provide additional support to pupils who may need help with their learning or communication.
- Encourage pupils to develop confidence, independence and positive relationships.
- Support children with their social and emotional development.
- Help pupils manage challenges and encourage positive behaviour.
- Adapt your approach and activities to suit individual pupils and their needs.
- Work closely with teachers and other support staff to provide consistent support.
- Build positive and trusting relationships with pupils.
- Help maintain a calm, safe and inclusive classroom environment.
- Follow school policies and procedures, including safeguarding and confidentiality.

- Ideally experienced in supporting pupils with SEND, although relevant transferable experience will also be considered.
