Premises Manager – Multi-Site (Education)

We are seeking an experienced and proactive Premises Manager to oversee estates and facilities across seven school sites spanning West Sussex, from Chichester through to Crawley.
This is a varied and rewarding role requiring regular travel between sites, so the ability to travel across West Sussex is essential.
The Role
You will provide day-to-day leadership and oversight of estates and facilities, ensuring all sites are safe, compliant, and well-maintained environments for staff and pupils.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading and coordinating estates and facilities operations across all sites
- Line managing Premises Officers and the Estates Business Support Assistant
- Overseeing contractors and external service providers
- Ensuring health & safety compliance and statutory checks are completed and recorded
- Implementing and maintaining safe working practices across all locations
- Monitoring estates performance and escalating issues where required
- Supporting the development of efficient and effective estates systems
Requirements
- GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths (Grade C/4 or above)
- Level 4 qualification (or equivalent experience) in estates, facilities, health & safety, or a related field
- Proven experience in estates or facilities management, ideally within an education setting
- Strong knowledge of health & safety legislation and statutory compliance (e.g. fire safety, asbestos, COSHH, electrical safety, water hygiene)
- Experience managing maintenance, security, and compliance within multiple sites
- Confident ICT skills, including use of systems, spreadsheets, and reporting tools
- Understanding of safeguarding and child protection responsibilities
- IOSH Managing Safely (or equivalent), or willingness to work towards
- Knowledge of school estates standards and local authority frameworks (desirable)
- Awareness of sustainable estates practices (desirable)
