Are you passionate about supporting children with Special Educational Needs? Do you have the patience, empathy, and enthusiasm to help pupils overcome barriers to learning and reach their full potential?
We are currently seeking a dedicated and caring SEN Classroom Assistant to join a welcoming and inclusive SEN primary school from September.
This rewarding role involves supporting pupils with a range of additional needs, including Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), ADHD, speech and language difficulties, and social, emotional, and mental health needs. You will work closely with teachers, SENDCOs, and other professionals to provide tailored support that enables pupils to thrive both academically and socially.
The Role
- Provide one-to-one and small group support for pupils with SEND
- Assist pupils in accessing learning activities and the wider curriculum
- Support the development of communication, social, and emotional skills
- Implement strategies and interventions recommended by teaching and support staff
- Encourage independence, confidence, and positive behaviour
- Help create a safe, nurturing, and inclusive learning environment
- Support pupils during lessons, breaktimes, and other school activities
The Ideal Candidate
- Has experience working with children or young people with SEND
- Is patient, compassionate, and adaptable
- Has excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Can build positive and trusting relationships with pupils
- Understands the importance of safeguarding and pupil wellbeing
- Works effectively as part of a team
- Previous school-based experience is desirable but not essential
