We are recruiting on behalf of a friendly and nurturing SEN secondary school in Worthing that is seeking a dedicated Teaching Assistant to join their team from September. This is a fantastic opportunity to work within a small specialist setting where every student is known, valued, and supported to succeed.

About the Role

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teachers and support staff to provide tailored support for students with a range of special educational needs, including Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), ADHD, SEMH needs, communication difficulties, and associated learning needs.

You will play a key role in helping students access learning, develop confidence, improve social skills, and achieve positive outcomes both academically and personally.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support students on a one-to-one basis and in small groups
  • Assist teachers in delivering engaging and differentiated lessons
  • Encourage student participation, independence, and self-confidence
  • Implement behaviour support and emotional regulation strategies
  • Build positive and trusting relationships with students
  • Support pupils with social, emotional, and communication needs
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, families, and external professionals
  • Help create a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment

The Ideal Candidate

  • Experience working with children or young people with SEND, SEMH, or behavioural needs is desirable
  • A calm, patient, and resilient approach
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills
  • A genuine passion for supporting young people with additional needs
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team
  • Adaptable, proactive, and willing to learn
  • Relevant qualifications are welcomed but not essential
