SEN Teaching Assistant

We are currently recruiting for a SEN Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming mainstream primary school in the Worthing area.
This is a fantastic opportunity for a caring, patient and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant who is passionate about supporting children with additional needs and helping them to reach their full potential.
You will work closely with the class teacher and SENCO, providing targeted support to pupils both individually and in small groups. The role will involve helping pupils access the curriculum, develop their confidence and independence, and feel supported throughout the school day.
The role will include:
- Providing one-to-one and small-group support for pupils with SEN
- Supporting children with their learning and development
- Helping pupils develop communication, social and emotional skills
- Encouraging positive behaviour and independence
- Adapting activities to meet individual needs
- Supporting pupils with transitions and changes to routine
- Working closely with the class teacher, SENCO and wider school team
- Following individual support plans and contributing to pupil progress
The ideal candidate:
- Has previous experience working with children with SEN, ideally within a school setting
- Is calm, patient and compassionate
- Can build strong and positive relationships with children
- Has a good understanding of additional needs such as autism, ADHD or communication difficulties
- Is confident managing challenging situations in a calm and positive manner
- Is reliable, proactive and able to work well as part of a team

Salary: £463 per week
