Master Class Education is looking to recruit a compassionate and experienced SEND Teaching Assistant to support a Reception‑aged pupil with complex needs in a welcoming primary school located in East Dulwich.
About the Role
This is a full‑time position supporting a Reception pupil who:
- Is pre-verbal
- Is autistic
- Requires intimate care
- Needs consistent, individualised support throughout the school day
You will be working within the Reception class, providing targeted 1:1 support, while collaborating closely with the existing SEND member of staff in the class to maintain continuity and high‑quality provision for all pupils with additional needs.
Start Dates
- Trial Week: From 9th February
- Official Start Date: After February half‑term
Duties Include
- Providing individualised support tailored to communication, sensory, and social needs
- Supporting intimate care routines in a dignified, safe, and appropriate manner
- Supporting the child’s engagement in play‑based and structured learning activities
- Working closely with class staff to implement EHCP strategies and targets
- Maintaining a safe, nurturing and consistent environment
- Liaising with teachers, SENDCo, and professionals as required
Required Experience & Qualifications
To be considered for the stated rate of pay, applicants must have:
- Experience supporting pupils with complex SEND, including autism
- Confidence providing intimate care
- Experience working with non‑verbal or pre‑verbal children (desirable)
- Understanding of early years development and EYFS practice
- An enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one)
- Relevant training in SEND or behaviour support (desirable)
Nature of the Work
The role is centred around 1:1 SEND support within an Early Years setting, ensuring safety, inclusion, communication support, and personalised learning for a child with high‑level needs. The work involves collaboration, hands‑on support, and sensitivity to the child’s emotional and developmental needs.
