£95–£100 per day
Monday to Friday | 8:30am – 3:30pm

Masterclass Education is currently recruiting for an SEN Teaching Assistant to join a supportive and welcoming SEN school in Portsmouth. Staff work closely together to create a safe, structured, and positive learning environment where pupils feel supported, valued, and encouraged to succeed.

The Role

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting pupils throughout their school day. Working closely with teachers and support staff, you will provide tailored support to students on a one-to-one basis and in small groups, helping them access learning, build confidence, and develop important social and emotional skills.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support pupils with their learning, emotional wellbeing, and personal development
  • Provide one-to-one and small group support tailored to individual needs
  • Encourage positive behaviour, engagement, and emotional regulation
  • Assist teachers in delivering lessons and adapting activities where required
  • Help create a calm, safe, and inclusive learning environment
  • Build positive and supportive relationships with pupils, staff, and parents
  • Promote independence, confidence, and self-esteem in pupils
  • Provide personal care where required, ensuring dignity and respect at all times

What We’re Looking For

  • A compassionate, patient, and proactive approach
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • A genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs
  • Experience working with children or young people is desirable but not essential
  • An understanding of SEN such as Autism, ADHD, and social/emotional needs is beneficial
  • A willingness to learn, adapt, and develop professionally
